Gauff struggled with her serve, recording 12 double faults and landing only half of her first serves in play. Despite briefly gaining momentum with a 4-3 lead in the second set, she couldn’t maintain control as Linette held firm to secure her first victory over a top-three player since 2021.

Linette will now face sixth-seeded Jasmine Paolini, who battled past Naomi Osaka 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 earlier in the day. Meanwhile, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka overpowered Collins 6-4, 6-4, firing 23 winners, including seven aces. She advances to the quarterfinals to take on Qinwen Zheng, who defeated Krueger 6-2, 7-6 (3). Sabalenka has won all five of their previous meetings, making her the strong favorite in the matchup.

Jessica Pegula remains the last American woman standing after a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win over Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk. The fourth seed will next face Britain’s Emma Raducanu, who outplayed Anisimova 6-1, 6-3 in humid conditions. Raducanu, competing in her first Masters 1000 quarterfinal, did not lose a single point on serve in the opening set and sealed victory with a well-executed rally on match point.

Looking ahead, Pegula and Raducanu have split their two previous encounters. The British player expressed excitement about the challenge, telling Tennis Channel, “It’s going to be a tough match, but I feel like I’m playing well and really enjoying competing again.”
